Help

Everything you need to get your class started, and answers for teachers, parents and schools.

Get started in 10 minutes

  1. Create your classSign up as a teacher. Give your class a name, choose its year group (Reception to Year 6) and its world: fish in the sea or birds in the sky.
  2. Add your pupilsOn the class page, paste your whole class list at once (one pupil per line, straight from SIMS, Arbor or Excel) or add pupils one by one. Each pupil gets their own Kudoling.
  3. Open the boardPress “Open the aquarium” (or “Open the sky”) on the class page, on the computer connected to your interactive board, and go full screen.
  4. Give your first rewardTap a pupil in the list and choose a behaviour. Their Kudoling eats, earns points and grows, and the class celebrates each new level. You can also feed the whole class with one tap.
  5. Take the registerMark who’s in each morning. The Kudolings of absent pupils sleep for the day, so nobody falls behind.
  6. Use your phone as a remoteIn the Control centre, choose “Control from your phone” and scan the QR code. You can then give rewards from anywhere in the room.
  7. Add your term datesIn the class settings, under “Term dates and holidays”, add this year’s half-terms and holidays with one tap. Kudolings sleep during holidays.
  8. Invite parentsPrint the parent invitation cards (one per pupil, with a QR code) or share the class’s family link. Parents only ever see their own child.

On the board

How do pupils earn points?

Tap a pupil and choose one of the ready-made behaviours, or give a custom amount with your own note (for example “Listened to everyone in group work”). Points help the Kudoling level up and grow; badges, streaks and accessories come along the way.

Can I take points away?

Yes. You can take points away with a reason, and you can undo it if it was a mistake. Parents can see points taken away on their child’s page, so we suggest using it sparingly.

Is there a leaderboard?

No. Pupils aren’t ranked against each other. Class goals and the surprise box are rewards the whole class earns together.

What tools are there?

Open the Control centre for a countdown timer, noise meter, traffic-light voice levels, a name picker, class helpers, a lesson activity timer, a writing board and handwriting lines, and the break lock.

What is the break lock?

At break time you can lock the board with a 4-digit code: pupils can watch their Kudolings but can’t change anything, even if they refresh the page. If you forget the code, unlock it with your teacher password.

How do the games work?

Two pupils race each other at the board in maths, phonics, spelling, time, money, shapes and memory games, a word search and a quiz. The games menu opens on your class’s year group, each game has settings for different years, and points won turn into food for their Kudolings.

What are house points?

If your school uses houses, every reward also earns the pupil’s house a point, and you can give points straight to a house for things like sports day. Teachers without a school account can use class teams instead.

Parents

How do parents join?

With the invitation card you send home (a single-use code and QR code) or with the class’s family link, which you approve. Parents sign up with their email address.

What can parents see?

Only their own child: their Kudoling, level and points, recent positive behaviour, points taken away, badges and the end-of-term report. They never see other children’s names or information.

Do pupils need an account or a device?

No. Pupils only appear on the class board; they don’t log in, and they don’t need an email address or a device.

Is there a letter I can send home?

Yes. On your class page, open “Letter to parents”: a ready-made letter explaining Kudolings, which you can edit and print, with the class’s QR code to join.

Schools

What does a school account add?

A school account brings your teachers together: the headteacher or a member of staff they choose can see every class at a glance, run school-wide houses with an assembly screen, and Premium is unlocked for the school’s teachers while the licence lasts.

How do teachers join the school account?

The school administrator shares the school code or link. Teachers enter the code on their “My school” page, or join automatically if they sign up through the link.

Can school administrators change records?

No. Administrators can view teachers, classes, pupils and recent records, but they can’t change or delete them.

How do we try it?

Anyone can try a ready-made demo class straight away from the home page (“Try the demo”), with no sign-up. To bring in your teachers, open a school account from the sign-up page: it starts with a free trial, and you can get in touch for a quote.

Your data and privacy

Who is responsible for pupil data?

When a school uses Kudolings, the school is responsible for its pupils’ data (the controller) and we process it on the school’s behalf, under the school data processing agreement.

Where is the data stored?

On servers in the Netherlands (in the EU). Connections are encrypted, and we don’t show adverts or sell data.

What can we give our data protection officer?

The “Security and data protection” page (linked at the bottom of this page) explains where data is stored, who can see it, how long it is kept and how it is protected. It also has a pre-filled DPIA template for your school.

How do I download my data?

On your profile page, use “Download my data”. You get a ZIP of spreadsheet files: for teachers, every class’s pupils, rewards, attendance, badges and report comments.

How do I delete my account?

On your profile page, use “Delete my account”. It happens straight away: your details and your pupils’ names are removed and can’t be restored, so download your data first if you need it.

What happens when I remove a pupil?

They disappear from the class at once. Their name, number, birthday and your comments are deleted a year later; points and attendance stay without a name for the class’s past reports.

Something not working?

The board isn’t updating

Check the internet connection, then refresh the page. Changes from your phone usually appear on the board within a second or two.

There’s no sound

Browsers only play sound after you’ve touched the page once. Tap anywhere on the board, then check the volume on the board or computer.

I’ve forgotten my password

Use “Forgotten password” on the login page. We email you a link to choose a new one.

Is Kudolings accessible?

We check our pages against the WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines with automated tests and keyboard checks: text contrast, labels, keyboard access and visible focus. The animated board and the games are designed for the whole class to watch together and are not yet fully usable with a screen reader; if something gets in your way, please tell us and we will fix it.

Which browsers work?

Any up-to-date browser: Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox, on interactive boards, computers, tablets and phones. There’s nothing to install.

Still stuck? Send us a message and we’ll get back to you.
